Laich of Moray Active Travel Routes

The primary objective is completing the active travel route connecting Burghead, Cummingston, Hopeman, Covesea, and Duffus, to Lossiemouth. This route would offer a safe route to walk, cycle or wheel as well as connect the coastal villages to their local services, including medical centres, vets, and shops in Lossiemouth.

There is no bus service directly connecting these communities, nor a safe walking, cycling or wheeling route. People are often seen walking on the verge of the national speed limit on B9040 road.

Active Travel simply means making journeys in physically active ways:

Walking (running, or pushing a pram) Cycling (including riding an adapted bike or e-bike) Wheeling (travelling by wheelchair, mobility scooter, scooter, skateboard, roller skates, roller blades, roller skis… and so on…).

The Scottish Government aims to make Active Travel the natural choice for short journeys, reducing carbon emissions, + improving air quality, as well as the nation’s health and mental health.
